Lainie Ettema is an interdisciplinary, conceptual artist from Michigan. Through oil paint, sculpture, and digital processes, she transcends conventions, stimulating conversations about gender, sexuality, and violence inflicted on the body. A dedicated activist, Ettema seamlessly integrates her art with a resolute commitment to social change, having participated in public art projects, protests, and initiatives focusing on advancing gender equality, increasing gun control, and fighting to end genocide. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art and Design from Alma College and is currently continuing her artistic pursuits as a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the University of Florida.

Ettema’s work has been featured in numerous publications as well as in venues such as the McIlroy Gallery (Niceville, Fl), Lansing Art Gallery (Lansing, MI), HAVEN Shelter from Domestic Violence (Pontiac, MI), and the Flora Kirsch Beck Art Gallery (Alma, MI), among others.

Ettema currently lives and works in Gainesville, Florida.
